getting ready with your books...
First of all you need to prep your book. Get your Order form and put your contact details, usually your name, mobile number and/or email address is sufficient. Make sure you mark on the bottom of the order form when you will be coming back to collect the book, and when you will be delivering the order. If you want to pass on a message to your customers, ie Spend £20 and receive a free gift, there is a space for a message on the order form.
Place the order form in the book.
On the front of the book, place a sticky note or a piece of paper, clearly saying that you will be coming back to collect the book on xx date, if they could please leave outside to save you disturbing them, even if they do not wish to order. Also a message about if they would not like to receive any more avon books, to tick this box and leave their house number, so you know not to leave a book there.
Also, if it is your first time delivering books to new territory, you might like to put a note introducing yourself, ie Hi, I am xx, your Independent Avon Representative and I will be covering your road. I can be contacted on xxxxxxx.
This gives people a chance to know who you are and what you are doing and that hopefully you are going to be a regular rep who sticks at it.
Put your book in the plastic bag and away you go. The note on the front is very important for trying to get as many of your books left out for you as possible. MOST people don't realise that with Avon, we have to pay for our own books and so won't leave them out. If you don't tell them, they don't know.
Some people like to door knock and introduce themselves. You should still put your books in a plastic bag, so they have the option of leaving the book out for you, although some people don't like to, so you may need to knock for these books.
Others, like me, like to stuff and run. By this we mean, put in the letterbox, and go. Then we come back a few days later to collect the book. If your book hasn't been left outside on your confirmed day, knock on the door and ask for it back. If no one is at home, put a note through their door, saying you called for their order, sorry you missed them, if they would like to contact you, give your details, or if they could just leave the book outside for you to collect.
This is very important, especially when you are first starting out, especially if you only have 20 books, you cannot afford to lose them all.
Good luck!

Valentine's Day can be a big seller if you know who to sell to.
Obviously this is time to target the men! As I've already mentioned many times, men like things to be easy, and if you offer them a gift service then they are much more likely to buy.
Here is what I do when they want things wrapped. I place their items in an inexpensive basket (that I got from the £1 store) add some pretty colorful tissue paper (red is the best color for valentine's day -but pink can work well too). It costs me about £1.50 in supplies to make up the basket, however they are more than happy to pay that £1.50 for the extra gift wrapping (because they dont have to do it - I made things EASY for them).

Tips for Avon party!!
Tips for Avon Representatives
- Have a list of different parties you can do and theme them around a set of products, such as a ‘feet treat’ party with the Footworks products, or break up the types of shows into specific classes such as ‘evening makeup’, ‘basic skin care class’ and so on. That way you’ll be able to book a different show at each party from the guests and you also don’t have to carry as much product with you.
- Always try and rebook your hostess for a Christmas party later in the year as this is your biggest selling period.
- Give all your guests a free sample bags with your business card included. Guests love getting freebies and they are targeted customers so it’s worth spending a little extra on them.
- You can either make up your own Avon hostess gift, or give her a big discount on her purchases. Work it out with your hostess beforehand (even if you are just giving her a discount – it’s always nice to have a little extra ‘free gift’ as well).
- Keep the show to around 30 to 40 minutes and make it fun. Any longer and you’ll lose the guests attention. Stay an extra 30 minutes at the end for taking orders and answering questions. (A good party usually only lasts 1 hour to 1 ½ hours).
- As a rule, only about half the people that you invite will show up, so always invite double the amount that you expect to show.
- Keep food and nibbles to a minimum. Food and cosmetics don’t mix so wait until after the show is over before serving.
- Find out if any of your guests want to see a particular Avon product and let your Avon Representative know in case she is able to bring it to your party.
How to get your customer's to re order...
Sometimes around this time customers might place one big order, but then don't plan on ordering again for quite some time. This can mean that your profits might take a big dive downhill (especially right after Christmas) so how can you encourage them to place another order?
If a customer has placed a large order with me (usually over 20£), one of the things I like to do is to place a 'coupon' with their current order for 10% off their next purchase. I usually make that coupon expire within the next four to six weeks so that they will be inclined to use it straight away.
Often I'll put something like this on it.
"Thank you so much for your order. I appreciate your business and to say thank-you I have enclosed a coupon for 10% off your next order with me. Use it before [date]. Take care and I look forward to talking with you soon, Regards, Hummi"
The coupon looks even more special and 'professional' if you print it out on card instead of paper.
Good luck with your re-orders!

Tips to increase your sales
Quite helpful topic ,some we knew some is New,check them out.....
How to Increase Your Sales
1. Call all your customers before you put your order in. Don't be afraid of annoying them. Many times customers will say, "Oh, I'm so glad you called because I wanted to order something and I forgot to call you." – I cannot stress enough how important this is.
2. Suggestive selling. If a customer orders a lipstick, suggest a nail polish to go with it. If she orders a cleanser, suggest a toner to go with it. Practice this until it becomes habit. At the very least, know what is on sale, or new to Avon. For example, if a new fragrance is out, ask the customer if she would like to purchase it too. Remember, if a customer is hesitant, Avon offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
5. Bundle products. Offer your customers the perfume, shower gel and body lotion, all in the same scent, with a small discount if they buy all three. Or bundle the cleanser and toner. Or bundle a day and night cream.
7. Samples, samples, samples. Put samples in your books of a new product. Call your customers back and ask how they liked it. Put a sample or two in their order. When you call them ask how they liked it.
9. Take the Beauty Advisor and Certified Beauty Advisor training. Reps who have done this have doubled their sales.

9. Take the Beauty Advisor and Certified Beauty Advisor training. Reps who have done this have doubled their sales.
10.Leave books everywhere you go. Doctor's office, dentist's office, bank, ATM machine, car servicing, fast food restaurants, convenience stores. Don't ask permission-just do it, if someone complains, apologize and don't do it again. (Personally, for a doctor’s office, etc., I’d ask if you can leave them regularly – especially if it is your doctor’s office. Bring some samples for the receptionist and aides too!!)
11.Wear something Avon. It is important that you use the product line. Not only will you become more familiar with what you sell, you will also find your personal favorites. Personal favorites are easy to promote (sell) because customers will feel your enthusiasm. Jewelry, clothing, perfume, etc. from the catalog will advertise your business. Go to www.thebooster.com to purchase Avon buttons.
12.order a packet of sample – usually five in a packet. Go up to ten people and tell them you are sharing a new (or classic) Avon sample. You would love to get their opinion on the item. Ask, would you mind trying this and answering a couple questions? If they say they will do it, get their name and number, give them the sample, and let them know you will call them in a couple of days to get their feedback. Also ask them if they would like to have a current brochure to look at (mark down if they have a brochure). When you call them – yes, you must follow up – ask them a couple easy questions about the sample (you may want to write down what sample they were given). Questions may be: Is this a fragrance similar to what you normally wear? Would you recommend this product to a friend? Did you like how the product felt on your skin? Etc. Keep it to two or three questions maximum. If they had a positive experience with /the sample, ask if they would like you to order a full size product. (You can even offer a 10% discount) – If they weren’t crazy about the sample, ask if they would be interested in trying other Avon samples. Also ask if they saw anything in the brochure they would like to order this campaign.
13.Ask all your customers if they will take a book to work with them. Offer to pay them in free Avon if they get orders for you. They will then become "helpers" which could be the backbone of your business.
Beginner's guide to Avon!!!
This topic is for begginers in Avon, some things that will make their life easier and wouldnt panic much...
- Write your name and phone number on the order form and ring around the day of collection – place in the brochure and deliver to the customer.
2. Allow at least 3-4 days between delivery of books and collection, as any shorter time will not give the customer sufficient time to look at the book.
3. When picking up your books check that each customer has written their name and address on the order form. This will save any confusion when it comes to delivery.
4. Take a pen and paper with you when picking up your books so that you can make a note of any books not collected, as you will need to go back again the next day, or whenever it is convenient, and if you have not written down which houses you have not picked the books up from, it is easy to get in a muddle.
5. Save all your old books for canvassing new territory. Even out of date books can be reused since offers come and go in all the brochures. If a customer orders a product whilst it is on offer but you cannot order it at that price, do not worry. Sometimes it is worth swallowing a slight loss for the sake of obtaining a new customer, as in the long run you will benefit. If there is a special offer on which can no longer be obtained then you should make it clear to the customer and possibly offer an alternative.
6. After collecting all your books, sort through the order forms and check that they have been filled in correctly, especially their name, and any colour, shade or fragrance required – for example if a customer just puts `lipstick` that is not very helpful to you when it comes to bagging up the order, as you could have dozens of lipsticks in your delivery box – how would you know whose was whose? You can find out by checking the product numbers on the invoice, but that can be rather time consuming. Also make sure they have totalled it up correctly and that the customer has understood that `buy 1 get 1 free` means they get the cheaper one free.
7. Remember that you can not only order from the current brochure, but also from the previous one. So always try to get the best deal for yourself when ordering. Sometimes you can `marry up` different customers` orders – e.g. if two customers both order only one item from a buy 2 get 1 free offer then you can claim the 3rd item for yourself to keep or resell. Also a customer may order something from the current brochure, eg an aftershave, for £8, but it may be £4 in the previous book. If you order it in at the cheaper cost this will go towards the cost of your brochures Don`t forget you are a business not a charity! By constantly checking prices and ordering at the cheapest possible cost, you may be able to cover the cost of your brochures…
8. How to fill out your order form – on your first order form the products from the current brochure are listed on the left hand side. Products from the previous brochure, Link, ‘While Stocks Last’ and any sales aids, such as bags, order forms and ring sizers , (I strongly recommend that you order these), should be listed on the right, under section A.
On the subject of bags – I always save plastic carrier bags, which I get given me in shops. Not ones with `Tescos` or something written on, but plain blue or white ones, or stripey ones (you know the kind!). This will save you money, but you will still need to order bags from Avon.
Your second order form may be different – it might be a booklet type form and in this case you must fill in an oval for every product needed. The pages are in the same order as the brochure pages. Link, ‘While Stocks Last’ and Sales Aids are all listed separately and any products needed from the previous campaign must be listed at the back under section A.
9. Remember to order your brochures for 2 campaigns ahead, and that they come in packs of 5. So if you need 20 books you order 4 packs. If you order 20 you will be sent 100 books!!
10. If this is your second or subsequent order you will need to make a payment to Avon for goods received from the previous order. You can do this in one of 4 ways – make a payment at the Post Office by filling in the Giro slip and getting the postmaster to stamp the front of your order form. Alternatively you can pay by phone, on the internet, or by placing a cheque in the post along with the completed Giro slip. On the back of your cheque write your account number and area number.
11. How to order - you may order in one of 3 ways - by sending your order form off in the post by the Thursday, over the telephone, or on the Internet by the Monday. If you order over the Internet then make sure you click on the little box with the campaign number next to the products if you want to order from the previous campaign. If you have to add to the order do NOT click on `additional order` as this is nothing to do with your main order and you may find that not only will you incur postage but you may lose your commission. What you should do in this case is to ring Avon and speak to an agent. If possible, though, try to place your order all in one go, as although time consuming it may prevent unwanted problems.
12. Additional orders are extra orders in between your regular orders. So if a customer wants something before the normal order date you can order, but a charge will be made for p & p and you can only order from the previous book as the new book will not yet be valid. At the time of writing (11/05) the charge is £2.50. If you order £72 pounds or more of products you will get commission as usual, but if not, then you will forfeit your commission.
13. On the subject of commission, your order must reach the MOV (minimum order value) which at the time of writing (11/05) is £72 to get 20% commission and £135 to get 25% commission. Occasionally your orders may not add up to the MOV even after you have ordered your books (which go towards your MOV as do products from Link, While Stocks Last and sales aids, though you will not get commission on these items). In this case it is in your interest add to the order yourself in order to obtain full commission. I had one rep who submitted an order of £71.50 and she got no commission! For the sake of 50p she would have received £14.40! Don`t let it happen to you….
14. When your order arrives on the appointed day a useful tip is to open the boxes from the bottom- not only will it save your nails, but it will enable you to reuse the boxes especially if you need to return something.
- Check items against your invoice – any missing products should be reported immediately to Avon.
